Turning spice mills is a particularly technical process. Numerous stepped holes have to be drilled precisely into the wooden blank so that the grinder runs perfectly smoothly later on. Consisting of the base and the mill head, both parts are turned from a single piece of solid wood in order to maintain a grain pattern that is as continuous as possible. Sculpture or kitchen utensil - I want to combine both. In this way, I give the shape something figurative without losing sight of its functionality. The heart of every pepper mill is its grinding mechanism. I use 2 grinders for my spice mills. The Danish company Crushgrind produces high-quality ceramic grinders. Strässler manufactures precision grinders from special steel in Switzerland.
